DIY Outdoor Blanket with Pockets

Summer is coming to an end! This calls for one last summer trip outdoors or to the beach! This little one-yard blanket is lightweight and perfect for a quick getaway outside. You can use the pockets to hide your keys or put a rock or sand inside to hold the blanket down. The options are endless. I hope you have fun with this fun project.

Place the cheater quilt face down on top of the coordinating fabric.

Sew all around the blanket using a 1/2 inch seam allowance. Leave a 6 -7 inch opening to turn the blanket inside out.

Turn the blanket out inside out and top stich all around the top.

This next step is optional. Sew through the blanket to keep the two layers together. Please see suggested sewing lines on the reference photo.

The final measurements of the blanket came to 33 inches by 39 inches.

Once you are done with these steps, you’re all done with your blanket is ready for the beach or the park!

I hope you enjoyed this project and enjoy the last bit our 2022 summer!
