Pom Pom Fun!
Looking for a cute gift or an easy DIY to do? Look no further than this super versatile pom pom bucket. You can use these buckets to organize your home, use as a plant holder, or to give as a gift. They are also reversable, so go crazy with your fabric prints!
For this project, I used some special fabrics that I dyed using the Shibori method. Shibori is the name for Indigo Tie Dying in Japan. It is such a fun process. I highly recommend trying this craft out some time in the future as another crafty idea. Check out my Pinterest for some shibori techniques.
Things you’ll need for this project:
- Fabric for outer layers (2 pieces cut to 9 inch by 9 inch)
- Fabric for the inside (2 pieces cut to 9 inch by 9 inch)
- Pom Pom (2 pieces cut to 9 inches)
- Scissors
- Interfacing (2 pieces cut to 9 inch by 9 inch) *Optional*
- Chop stick or something pointy
** Cut 2 x2 inches in the bottom corners.
With your inner fabric face up, use a 1/4 seam allowance to attached your Pom Poms.
Once your pom poms are attached to the inner liner, sew the three sides with a straight 3/8 or 1/2 inch stitch.
To sew the corners into a box stitch, align the corner peices together as shown and sew a straight stitch with a 1/2 inch seam allowance.
Use clips to hold the corner pieces together.
You will have 4 corners to sew.
Sew a straight stitch using a 1/2 inch seal allowance.
Now, for the fun part! with your inner liner right side out place into the outer fabric (which should be inside out)

Use clips to hold the pieces together. Sew around the top with a 3/8 inch seam allowance. Leave about 2-3 inches to turn inside out.
Turn the bucket inside out through the 2-3 inch gap you left open (as shown).
Add a top stitch all around the bucket and then you’re done!
I hope you enjoyed this project.
